Democrats Unite!

With this election, so many people banded together because they wanted to get rid of President Bush. We all banded together and put forth tons of energy to work to get Kerry elected. Voter turnout was the highest since 1968, so efforts to get people out to vote must have worked. While Bush did get re-elected, he also recieved the most votes against an incumbent of any presidential election. Even if Bush won 51% of the popular vote, there's still 49% of Americans who disliked Bush enough to vote against him.
They've been saying that now is the time to heal the rift, you know, that's not going to happen with many of those who supported Kerry. They are honestly disgusted enough with Bush that they will fight against any decision that Bush makes that is more for his agenda than for the American people's.
There is still much energy from the people who supported Kerry, now is not the time to become apathetic. So what can be done to turn the tables in the favor of those who would like to not see another person like Bush get elected to office?
We need to act, and many have said we need to look to 2008.
No.
We need to start with 2006.
In 2006, there will be elections for House of Representative seats, Senate seats, and Governor's of some states. As it is, Congress is controlled by Republicans, but some of their seats will come up. If we take the energy we had put into the Kerry campaign and use it to help elect some Democrats to the Senate and House, we could help them gain some power and make it much harder for Bush to get his policies passed through.
I found out from a friend that Jeb Bush, the one who helped get his brother into the White House, cannot run as Governor again in 2006. The scary thing though is that Jeb could run for some other office, like say House of Representatives or Senate in 2006, or even for President in 2008. We may not have to worry about 4 more years of Bush in the White House when we could potentially be looking at twelve more years of having a Bush in the White House.
So I make the call to everyone, take the energy and rage you have and put it towards helping get other Democrats into political offices and voting against policies that will not benefit most Americans.
In essence: All of us who make up the 49% who wanted Kerry should become the most painful thorn in the side of the Bush administration and the people who helped get him elected.
¡Si Se Puede!
