Where's the Administration?

On Saturday, December 4 a program was put on in the FACT theatre addressing issues that WNMU students are concerned with. The program was made up of small skits regarding problems that students deal with such as the War in Iraq, WNMU parking, mothers who go to school, drugs, discrimination and the employees of WNMU (such as maintenance) being taken for granted.
At this production WNMU students voiced their opinions, but who heard them? Peer leaders, fellow students, WNMU Ambassadors, members of WNMU and several teachers, but what about the people who could help solve the issues that students are concerned with. Such as the VP's and President Counts. Nothing can be done without their approval yet they won't listen to what the students have to say.
The only time we as students are asked for our opinion is in teacher evaluations, but what is really done to solve any of the problems? This school is nothing without the students. So why don't our superiors pay more attention to us and value our opinions? This school has great potential that will never fully develop because the voice of the students goes unheard, unnoticed and unrecognized.
Sincerely,
Jolleen Sullivan
[Editor's note: Vice President of Academic Affairs Faye Vowell was present for a significant portion of the event. In addition, the December 4th program was done as an American Democracy Project event. Vowell was the individual responsible for initiating ADP at the WNMU campus.]
