WNMU went gaga over Valentine's Day. Cupid shot an arrow right into the heart of students this Feb. 8, as they came together to raise money for their own clubs and Nick Arnold's family. There were at least six on-campus activities surrounding the Valentine's Day weekend.

S.A.M. Club (Society for Advancement of Management) did their annual Rose Sale on the first floor of the Student Memorial Building. This year they had to improvise as they found themselves selling drenched roses. They were frozen overnight, and at sale time the roses were limp and soaked. With a little creativity and some of that business savvy, they managed to turn out a profit. The club also sold $1 raffle tickets for "A dinner for two" at Spaghetti Western.

Both the Science Club and the W-Crew (Dance Team) sold candy grams. They were priced at $2 and $1, respectively. The Science Club made more than $300 in profit, while the W-Crew raked in over $200. Both organizations delivered the grams to the recipients.

Another profit yielding event was an "Apprentice" style competition between classmates of Professor John Colander's BSAD 100 class. The teams were each given $10 as seed money and no ideas. The only instruction was to outsell the other team. They were allowed a two-hour block on Valentine's Day. Both teams set up their tables on the first floor of the Student Memorial Building. One table sold candy packets at $1.50 each, while the second team sold cookies and raffled a Valentine's cake. The second table won the competition. Professor Colander said that he hoped that the experiment would give his students "real life business experience." All proceeds were donated to the family of Nick Arnold.

MASA sponsored the "Dating Game," the Friday before Valentine's Day. It was a spin-off of the old MTV program Singled Out. Female contestants answered questions and displayed their talents, during three rounds of eliminations, to unknown male bachelors who were hidden behind a white screen. There were four guys total, which the girls were vying for, along with a dinner to Jalisco's and the Golden Dragon restaurants. The final match ups were: Brie Adderley and Jason Jackson; Marie Rose Sierra and Jerry Martinez; Whitney Card and Eric Lazaus, and Laura Van Buskirk and Nick Sais.

Finally there were two dances sponsored by different groups. The first was held on Friday February 11 in the MEChA Building. It was sponsored by Gamma Psi and Gamma Alpha, and held in memory of Nick Arnold. Donations were collected for his family. The second was also held in the MEChA Building on Valentine's Day, and it was billed as the "Sweetheart Dance."
