The road ahead certainly seems bright. The first victory was handed to Western when they soundly beat St. Paul's College 48-6 at Ben Altamirano Field. At their second home game Western had a narrower victory beating New Mexico Highlands 24-21. Deandre Day had some reservations about the second win, "I don't think we played to the best of our team offensively, there were a lot of penalties...a lot of mistakes." "We won two but they aren't going to come easy," he added. Fernando Santillanes gave credit to Coach Wade and the team's optimistic attitude. "It feels good to win, it's a huge turnaround. Everybody's attitude has changed, everybody's positive. It's also due to Coach Wade and all the coaches' ability to recruit players."
The Mustangs' next home game is on September 17 when they'll battle Western State University.
