Mustang supporters were given reason to get very excited last weekend, and it had little to do with NCAA Mascot J.J.Jumper! Doubtless to say that everyone's favourite friendly green furry basketball player added a certain something extra to the atmosphere, sound performances by both teams impressed many. These performances were highlighted by wins for the men against St. Mary's University and Incarnate word. This issue The Mustang has chosen to recognize the work of two outstanding basketball players, Matt Enriquez and Tannesia Manley, as our 'Athletes of the Issue.'

# 12 Matt Enriquez

With 18 points, 4 rebounds and two steals against St.Marys's, and 26 points and six rebounds against Incarnate Word, this key player has certainly let his stats do the talking! "Matt played very well in those two games," Head Coach Mark Coleman told The Mustang. "He was certainly the best player of the two games we won!" Indeed, his 6 3-pointers of 9 in the Incarnate Word game were outstanding!
Unfortunately for the team, Matt received a concussion 14 minutes into the second Incarnate Word game. However, the key senior out of El Paso, Texas will be well worth watching as the season reaches its climax!

#42 Tannesia Manley

The fact that this talented female athlete, out of Sierra Vista, Arizona gets more court time than any other player on the team is a tribute to her consistency. "She's our MVP," Women's Head Coach Bret Hansen commented. "She always hit's the board, scores well, she's athletic, she does it all right, and she does it every time!"
With by far the best field goal percentage on the team, Manley also leads the team in rebounds and steals per game. Performers such as Manley are a credit to WNMU. Congratulations to both athletes…keep up the good work!
