Just getting ready.

Great Race 2009 was a great success, with teams showing off homemade banners, and pushing their carts like crazy just to make the finish line.

Who would've thought that a group of bored college students could start a tradition that has led to the great race?

From riding their beds down the hill, to the mud pit....we've come a long way! I must say that the enthusiasm shown by the teams was a relief to the somewhat mellow atmosphere WNMU provides daily to students.

The thrill of pushing those carts up-hill makes me tired just thinking about it, and watching them do it was even harder (I can't imagine doing that myself).

The dedication and devotion it takes to build your car, organize your team (in terms of placement throughout the course), and the will to show up and actually take part in the race, makes an impression on the audience.

The most exciting part about the Great Race for me, is experiencing it for the first time. Even though this is my second year here at WNMU, this year was my first experience with the Great Race.

It is fabulous that so many students were active in the competition, and that the spirit was that of respect and cooperation (instead of rivalry).

I look forward to the 2010 race, and hey, maybe I'll join a team next time....Hmmm....Nurds, or Groupy Lovers?
